NORA’S FUND

  • Who was Nora?

Nora’s Fund was created in memory of an extraordinarily special dog. Nora was a puppy mill survivor, spending the first 10 years of her life living only in a cage to produce puppies. Upon rescue, it was discovered the serious neglect and abuse she had endured during those 10 years. She had broken bones, tumors, rotten teeth, and a shattered spirit. The healing trio of love, medical attention, and doggy dementia allowed Nora to leave her trauma behind her and live her new life to the fullest. Nora lived for three years after rescue. She was silly, she was brave, and she was so, so loved. Nora’s Fund is our effort to honor a little dog who meant a great deal to us.

  • What is Nora's Fund?

Nora's Fund provides financial assistance to owners of domestic animals in Nebraska who cannot afford their pet’s medical treatment. We understand life can be complicated and we all need help sometimes. Eligible pet owners can apply for a one-time assistance grant. Nora's Fund relies on donations and provides a limited amount of financial assistance to pet owners based on the resources available in the fund. NORA’S FUND TESTIMONIES

When I was told that my dog, Valentino, needed to have a tooth removed and that it would cost over $900, I had no idea what I was going to do. I couldn't afford it, but he was already under anesthesia and I didn't want him to go through that again. I told the vet's office to go ahead and remove it, but I truly didn't know what I would do. In the midst of my panic, my friend reminded me of Nora's fund. I applied for Nora's fund and within hours, they had contacted my vet and helped pay for his tooth removal.

After having his tooth removed, Valentino blossomed. He was able to eat all of his food and play happily with his toys. He is so much healthier and happier, and Nora's fund made this possible for him. I am so thankful to Brave Animal Rescue for their help, and if you are able to donate to Nora's fund, please do. It has increased my dog's quality of life in ways I couldn't even imagine.

I can't say thank you enough for helping my kitty Socks. Without your help I probably wouldn't have my best friend. When I got her from a friend of mine from highschool she was 5 months old and a rescue kitty. I have Parkinson's disease and I struggle with things. Without Socks I probably wouldn't be here, she brings me joy daily and makes life so much better. Thank you so much for the help.

Around August of 2023, my cat Margaret developed a growth toward the back of her mouth, but because of the location I didn't notice it until it started to disrupt her eating habits. The vet was passionate about removing and performing a biopsy on the growth as well as ordering scans to ensure Margaret didn't have any other growths in her chest or abdomen. Unfortunately, I didn't have pet insurance and did not have the finances to afford the surgery and scans necessary to ensure that the growth wasn't cancerous. Nora's Fund allowed me to get Margaret the care that she needed, including surgery to remove the growth. Luckily, Margaret's scans and pathology came back clear, and I am so grateful to Nora's Fund and to Brave Animal Rescue for their assistance in affording Margaret's surgery and testing!
